KENNEWICK, Wash. - Ridge View Elementary celebrated National Read Across America Day on Friday.

The holiday is March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Classes did assignments about the famous author today. Washington's Miss Outstanding Teen also read "Oh Say Can You Say" out loud, and for fifteen minutes the entire school filled the hallways and library together for an "all school read."

All the while not letting the 2 school employees, dressed as Thing 1 and Thing 2, not get in their way.

Lori Butler, the librarian, dressed as the Cat in the Hat in the spirit of things. She said, "We're always promoting reading. 20 minutes a night is all we ask for at home and it makes a huge difference with kids so this is another way that we can send that message."

Read Across America is for more than just Dr. Seuss though, students were encouraged to read all types of books as a reminder of how much reading enriches our lives.
