Tri-Cities Cancer Center Preparing Run For Ribbons Event
The Tri- Cities Cancer Center brought out paint and glitter Friday to prepare for its 3rd Annual Run for Ribbons fundraiser. Money raised from the run/walk stay in the Tri-Cities, and help the center provide services to patients.
Friday participants decorated their Run for Ribbons T-shirts to show why they are running, or who they are running for. "There are a number of different colors that represent cancer. That are symbolized by ribbons. So, each person can pick their colors, like breast cancer is pink," said Tri-Cities Cancer Center Executive Director Thomas Cothran.
Over 800 people attended the event last year, but Cothran said he expects as many as 1,000 this year.
The 5k run/1M walk will be held on Saturday, March 17th at Howard Amon Park in Richland. The run/walk kicks off at 10 a.m., but the RibbonFest Health Fair begins at 8:30.
Participants can sign up at www.runforribbons.org or at the Tri-Cities Cancer Center at 7350 West Deschutes Avenue in Kennewick. You can also call 737-3413 for more information.
