YAKIMA, Wash.-- Players on the Davis High School, boys basketball team are state champs.
They beat Spokane's Central Valley High School in the Tacoma Dome Saturday night.
This is the schools first state championship since 1965 and the first ever, for Coach Eli Juarez. Juarez says his players were on top of the world after the win and were welcomed back to Yakima with a nice reception at their home gym.
"This year the stars kind of aligned because this group of kids, they have the talent and they had the really great, positive attitudes," said Coach Juarez.
Juarez says the boys played in front of a couple thousand fans Saturday night, and even had several hundred come from Yakima to support them.
