KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Ken and Theresa's Place is the name of the shelter. It's not officially opened, but that hasn't stopped people from coming.
The day use facility is the first of it's kind in the Tri-Cities. It's in the Clearwater West office building right behind Jackson's in Kennewick.
Right now they're operating out of their temporary location. Homeless advocate Steve Gaulke says many people have stopped by looking for help including a homeless veteran.
"So we've had a variety of people that are veterans like one man that's homeless that's working, but just can't get enough money to get his own place. So we've been working with him and going to different agencies," explains Gualke.
The shelter will officially open Thursday, March 15th. In the meantime, Gaulke says anyone who needs help can stop by.
He also adds people who want to donate can bring socks and toiletries. He can be contacted at 509-572-2224.
The main shelter which is right next to the temporary location is expected to open in about two months.
