Morales murder trial pushed back one week

Posted: Updated:

Pasco, WA- A Franklin County judge has pushed back a murder trial one week to give the public defender a chance to catch up.

Shelly Ajax represents Jose Garcia Morales. Ajax also defended Gregorio Luna Luna, whose murder trial concluded last Friday.

Judge Carrie Runge agreed to give the attorney a week to get ready for morales' trial, as well as fight off a cold.

Pasco police arrested Morales and his brother Ramon Garcia Morales in December 2008. Prosecutors say they shot and killed a man and critically wounded his wife in their Pasco home. Detectives say the brothers were angry the man hadn't hired them for farm work.  A jury convicted Ramon Garcia Morales last year.

Attorneys will start picking a jury for Jose Garcia Morales' trial in two weeks.
