YAKIMA, Wash.-- Humorist and Feminist Scholar Gina Barreca spoke to a large crowd at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima today.
She's the author of eight books and has appeared on several TV shows, including 20/20 and Oprah. She talked about the differences between men and women, telling stories about her childhood and being one of the first women to go to Dartmouth College. She says humor is helpful in talking to people about different ideas.
"We can use humor to make a point that is... That would otherwise be dismissed as shrill, as self-serving, as unimportant..." says Barreca.
She's the third speaker in the Yakima Town Hall Series this year. The final speaker is Dr. Michio Kaku in April.
