Fever ready for rivalry game with Colorado

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Tri-Cities Fever (2-0) gets set for its first big rivalry game this season. Saturday night the Fever host the Colorado Ice (1-1).

Last season these teams met three times, with each game decided on the final play. Tri-Cities took two of those matchups, including a second-round playoff game. The Fever says the games are always close because of their familiarity.

"We're expecting a slobber-knocker. These guys last year we played them real close each and every game we played them. We know these guys very well and they know us very well. We know what they do, and they know what we do. We just gotta come out here and execute better than they do," said Steven Whitehead, Fever receiver.

"Hopefully it doesn't come down to the last play, and if it does I hope we have the ball in our hands. Last year all three times we had the ball in our hands and we came up twice with the win. One time I didn't get the touchdown, but hopefully it doesn't come down to it," quarterback Houston Lillard added.

The Ice comes off an impressive 72-37 win over Wyoming last weekend. The game kicks off at 7:05 p.m. inside the Toyota Center.
