Vigil near JBLM for Afghan shooting victims

Posted: Updated:

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) - A vigil is scheduled tonight near Joint Base Lewis-McChord for the victims in an Afghan shooting spree blamed on a soldier from the Washington base.
The vigil is organized by a Coffee Strong, a pro-soldier, anti-war group that operates a coffee house near the base.  Coffee Strong has called JBLM a "rogue base" and asked for a congressional investigation.
The vigil begins at Coffee Strong (at 6 p.m. at 15109 Union Ave. SW, Lakewood.) Plans call for a march to the nearby "Freedom Bridge" - an Interstate 5 overpass where there are frequent military-related demonstrations.
In addition to Coffee Strong, vigil organizers include GI Voice and Iraq Veterans Against the War.
