New hotel suites construction underway at Columbia Point
RICHLAND, Wash. -- InterMountain Management LLC began construction on a new project at Columbia Point earlier this month.
It's going to be the TownPlace Suites, a four story, 90 room up-scale Marriott Hotel, intended for long term travelers. The property is directly across from Anthony's. There will be studio's, one and two bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens and separate living, working and sleeping areas.
Stan Jones, the Director of Development for InterMountain says, " As the Tri-Cities continues to expand its business and leisure base, the TownPlace Suites will cater to a clientele that's seeking a premium-branded extended stay concept that is not currently available in the market.
Jones says the $10 million dollar project will likely be ready for business by February.
Project Superintendent for Diversified Construction Services, John Chappelle, says it's going to be a very nice structure. "it will be an upscale hotel and the exterior of the hotel is stone, with an upper stucco finish. And its going to resemble a hunting lodge, it will have rough cedar fonts."
Chappelle says there will be about 300 contractors total working on this project. Once operational, the hotel is expected to employ about 20-25 people.
