Kennewick City Council Tours New Southridge Pavilion
Kennewick, Wash. - Kennewick's City Council got a first-hand look at the new pavilion at the Southridge Sports Complex Tuesday night.
The City Council held a workshop meeting inside the pavilion, and then took a tour of the facilities. The 30,000 square-foot pavilion can host basketball tournaments, car shows, and even weddings.
The city applied for Local Revitalization Funds from the state to help pay the $3.2 million it took to build it.
"It was one of our visions we talked about eight years ago. We started the ballfields, and then it grew to be a little bigger, and then finally we said, 'Let's do this.' We put our money into it, and the LRF came about and we were able to do that," said Kennewick City Council member Bob Parks.
The city will hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Southridge Pavilion and Complex on Thursday, March 22nd at 5:00pm.
