Many signing up for Run for Ribbons

KENNEWICK, Wash., -- Leaders at the Tri-Cities Cancer Center say more than 800 people have already signed up for the third annual Run for Ribbons event.

They expect about 1,000 people to be at Howard Amon Park this Saturday in support for the center.  Leaders say you can run or walk the 5K, or an alternate one mile path.  They say it can be a lot of fun and can be therapeutic as well.

"They are able to talk about not only their cancer journey but loved ones," says Liz McLaughlin, an organizer.  "Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way.  So it's a really great way to recognize achievements or to honor someone you've lost."

The run takes place this Saturday at Howard Amon Park in Richland.  Check-in is at 8:30 am, the run or walk starts promptly at 10.  The cost is $25 for adults and $15 for those under 18.
