Local political shake-up leaves more questions than answers
RICHLAND, Wash. -- Kennewick City Councilman Bob Parks announced to NBC Right Now that he plans to run for the state house seat held by Larry Haler.
It's the latest local political shakeup after State Senator Jerome Delvin announced his plans to run for Benton County Commissioner.
The shuffle leaves questions about Haler's future and Delvin's senate seat.
But Parks says his decision was not connected to Delvin's
"No, I decided to do this. I've been talking with Senator Delvin for a few weeks, we've talked about the rumor out here that he was going to run against Leo Bowman, he resigned. It all happened within a week, and this has been a political crazy week," explains Kennewick City Councilman Bob Parks.
"Should Sen. Delvin win the county commissioners seat, I would more than likely give it very strong consideration," says Representative Larry Haler.
Delvin and Parks haven't resigned from their current positions. Parks added his race against haler won't distract him from his council duties.
