PASCO, Wash.-- Franklin County Sheriff's are charging a man for tools theft that is already in the Benton County Jail for the same crime.
Franklin County Sheriff's deputies were investigating a February 10th tool theft when they saw a story on the KNDU web site that helped solve the crime. They saw that Chad Quigley is in Benton County Jail after being charged with theft for stealing tools in Richland.
Deputy Tony Haworth found that Quigley fit the physical description for a tool theft witnessed in Pasco. In a line-up Quigley was positively identified. The victim saw him as he fled off his property with tools.
"He'd actually seen the individual in the back of a box truck removing the construction tools. Of course he went out to confront the suspect. The suspect fled. The victim called us. We immediately came into the area, we were unable to find him," said Haworth.
The crime happened on the 5400 block of Sylvester Road in broad daylight. It's estimated that over two thousand dollars worth of tools were taken.
Quigley will be charged in Franklin County with felony theft. Charges are currently being processed. They are looking into other Franklin tool thefts to see if he is linked to those as well.
