Pendleton homeless program receives federal grant

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - The U.S. Housing and Urban Development says a program serving the homeless in Pendleton will share in a $3.7 million federal grant.
The department says the Community Action Program of East Central Oregon is in line for $33,588.
CAPECO lead case manager Marci McMurphy tells the East Oregonian that the money will pay rent for homeless people plus "wrap-around services" to help them succeed.
She says the money will allow the program to assist three households over three years - one chronically homeless person and two disabled homeless adults with families.
She says wrap-around services might be psychiatric care or drug-and-alcohol counseling for individuals with mental health or drug and alcohol issues.
