YAKIMA, Wash.-- Several people in Yakima received awards at the 12th Annual Red Cross Real Heroes Luncheon today.
It honors people who have gone above and beyond in serving their community. Categories included humanitarian, law enforcement, and military hero awards. The room was packed with all sorts of different community members, from law enforcement to volunteers. It's about showing the best Yakima has to offer.
"You know, it just highlights the good in people... And just... What people are capable of: the bravery, the selflessness, the... The courage," says Red Cross Executive Director Lisa Reinhart.
The event is also one of the Red Cross' biggest fundraisers. The organization is funded mainly by donations.
