PASCO, Wash. -- A Pasco man is behind bars Tuesday night after a burglary and armed standoff that lasted nearly three hours.

22 year old Jose Contreras surrendered to police.  Around 11 in the morning, Pasco police were called to the 300 block of Shoshone Street to respond to a possible burglary.

When they arrived, Contreras ran and hid inside a house near Bonneville Street and 1st Avenue.

Contreras had a rifle according to Pasco P. D. and streets from Sylvester Street and 1st Avenue to Bonneville Street were blocked off to traffic.

"Time's on your side, usually a little bit of time people will hopefully generally think the better and do what they're asked to do," explains Pasco Police Captain Jim Raymond

Authorities add the home may belong to relatives of the 22 year old. Contreras was booked into the Franklin County Jail for burglary.
