Firefighters break down fence to put out Yakima house fire
YAKIMA, Wash.-- Firefighters in Yakima broke down a fence to get to a house fire on the 1700 Block of Park Lane today.
They got a call around 11 am from a neighbor who saw the smoke. When crews got there, the back of building was in flames. They managed to put the fire out before it spread.
One neighbor got minor injuries when he let a pair of dogs out of the home. No one else was hurt. Firefighters say it could have been worse.
"Because of the quick response we were able to minimize the damage to the house, most of the damage was exterior, backside of the house... However it did get into the attic a little bit," says Yakima Fire Department Captain Brandon Dorenbush.
Police blocked off nearby Yakima Avenue between 16th and 18th Avenue as firefighters investigated the scene. They still haven't determined the cause.
