KHQ.COM - Emergency crews responded to a two vehicle head-on crash at Francis and Nine Mile Rd. Friday morning in northwest Spokane.
According to authorities, at approximately 5:30 a.m. the driver of the red vehicle was traveling north on Nine Mile Rd. just past where Francis turns into Nine Mile Rd., hit the median, briefly went airborne and landed on the hood of the white vehicle that was going south on Nine Mile Rd.
Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. At one point during the 7 a.m. hour traffic on southbound Nine Mile Rd. was backed up for nearly a mile as crews worked to clear the scene, according to KHQ's Blake Jensen.
The crash is being investigated as a possible DUI, as authorities smelled alcohol on the breath of the driver of the red vehicle.
