YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Yakima man is dead after his motorcycle crashed into a semi-truck Friday morning.
It happened around 11:00 a.m. on Summitview Road, about eight miles west of Yakima.
Washington State Patrol troopers say the motorcycle crossed the center line and hit the truck.
The county coroner has identified the man as 53-year-old Daniel Gaub. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews were originally called out to a semi-truck rollover accident.
"We didn't know that there was a bike involved. When I pulled up on the scene, I seen a bike laying on the side and the gentleman hurt out on the road," said Fire Chief Sam Glanzer, with the Highland Fire Department.
Troopers say the truck driver, 32-year old Hector Rangel from Tieton, was not hurt.
A stretch of the roadway between Pioneer and Hill Roads was closed for a brief period Friday afternoon.
The State Patrol is investigating the exact cause of the crash.
