"Take Back Walla Walla" group is met with opposition

WALLA WALLA, Wash.- Police say a Walla Walla store owner who killed an intruder does not support a "Take Back Walla Walla" group, and does not want them rallying Saturday on his behalf.

In a news release Thursday, the Walla Walla City Police Chief and Walla Walla County Sheriff said they have been in contact with the lawyer for John Saul.

Attorney Mike Hubbard says Saul believes a rally would hurt the healing process.

Police say surrounding property owners also oppose a demonstration and trespassers could be arrested.

Hubbard says Saul was defending himself and his property May 4th when he shot 22-year-old Cesar Chavira in a break-in at the New York Store Western Outfitters.

The Walla Walla sheriff's office says Chavira was a known gang member with a criminal record.
