HERMISTON, Ore.-- The bleachers at Hermiston's Kennison Field are now surrounded with caution tape.
A facilities assessment found that the bleachers didn't meet code and were built in the late 60's. The school is trying to decide what the next step will be to replace them. The assessment also found there were several cracks in the track's surface. Hermiston High School's Athletics Director, Mike Kay, said it's lead to discussions of a facilities upgrade.
"We anticipate having to do something on this site eventually on a pretty large level. We've got some track issues. We want to address that. So we want to really get all the facts together and make a solid decision on what we want to do to make sure we move in the proper direction," said Kay.
The district is considering several options, including building new bleachers, bringing in portables or moving events to the middle school next year to accommodate construction.
