YWCA receives $480,000 grant from Seattle company

YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Seattle home loan company has awarded more than $400,000 in grant money to help the YWCA in Yakima.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle announced Tuesday, they would be giving up to $480,000 in grant money to the YWCA.

Speakers at the event included, Congressman Doc Hastings, R-Wash., Sen. Curtis King, R-Yakima, Rep. Norm Johnson, R-Yakima, Rebecca Thornton with U.S. Senator Patty Murray's Central WA Director, and Yakima Mayor Micah Cawley.

"It has helped with affordable housing for transitional purposes for women that are victims of domestic abuse," said president and CEO Michael Wilson, with Federal Home Loan of Seattle.

The Seattle company has partnered up with Yakima Federal Savings & Loan and Central Valley Bank, to help with YWCA's transitional housing project.
