Truck tips over blocking road

Posted: Updated:

PROSSER, Wash.-  Washington State Patrol says inattention most likely caused a semi truck to crash this morning.

Troopers say the driver was traveling northbound on Highway 221 just south of Prosser when he drifted onto the shoulder, over-corrected, and tipped over.

The driver had some cuts on his face but refused medical attention.

Troopers say the skidding truck threw off sparks and could have caused a brush fire.

"Fire is always an issue. We've had some pretty good wild fires in the past that have been caused from auto collisions. So yes that is a cause for concern in the summer time, especially out in the remote areas," says Washington State Patrol Sgt. David DeVere.

Crews worked for several hours directing traffic around the crash until they could clear the road.
