Tri-Cities Fever players inspire youth to be active

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Tri-Cities Fever football players laced up their shoes to run with second and third graders today, and it was all for a good cause.

More than 160 kids at Washington Elementary School in Kennewick are part of a running club that's close to reaching the one-thousand mile mark.

Brandon Wilson and Lionel Singleton joined the youngsters to celebrate their achievement.

"With all the video games and TV's and stuff like that, kids would rather stay inside. But it's important to push them outside and get the sun, just be active," explains Wilson.

The run wrapped up the season for the running club, which started in December.

Some of the students were given top runner awards, medals, and many got autographs from the players.
