Richland Farmers Market opens today

RICHLAND, Wash., -- With the weather getting warmer, local farmers markets are opening for business in Washington.

The Richland Farmers Market opened this morning, currently in it's 7th season at the Parkway in Richland.

Organizers say this is set to be one of the biggest seasons yet with over 90 vendors signed up already, including a booth raising money for the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center.

The market made over $550,000 for local vendors last year.

"We had an average last year of about 4,000 people for each market session," says Market Organizer John Erben.  "That's up from prior years, it's just gone in a series of steps up and up and up...and I don't think we've peaked yet!"

The market is open Fridays from 9 AM to 1 PM through October 26th at the Parkway in Richland between Jadwin Avenue and George Washington Way.
