KENNEWICK, Wash.—The Kennewick School District is finishing remodeling Sunset View Elementary. It is part of their multi-year remodeling project.
In 2009 the Kennewick School District received a $68-million bond. Since then, they have built Cotton Wood Elementary, and are working toward remodeling five schools.
Sunset View Elementary is the latest school to be remodeled. Each facility will now have a gym and cafeteria. It is expected to be complete and open for the start of the 2012-2013 school year.
"We're very excited. It's essentially a brand new building," says Tony Langdon, Sunset View Elementary Principal.
The next school on the list is Cascade Elementary. Construction will begin this summer. Once building is complete, Lincoln Elementary will be next. The school district hopes to then begin phase two.
"In phase two we have Westgate Elementary, Eastgate Elementary that are scheduled for remodel. As well as the remodel of Desert Hills and possibly a 15th elementary school," says Lorraine Cooper, Kennewick School District.
