Yakima police arrest suspect in East "A" Street stabbing
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Police arrested a 32-year-old man they believe is responsible for stabbing another man in the chest on Friday.
Officer responded to report of an assault at an apartment complex on the 20 block of East "A" Street, at around noon. When officers arrived they found a 25-year-old man with stab wounds to his upper chest.
Police say the victim overheard a confrontation between the suspect and another person, and stepped in to help calms things down between the two people. They say that's when the victim was stabbed.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery for a serious and possibly life-threatening knife wound, according to a release by the Yakima Police Department.
The Yakima Police Department with the assistance of the Violent Crimes Task Force and the Selah Police Department located Amado Garcia-Huizar in Selah and took him into custody. Garcia-Huizar faces first degree assault.
The condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
