Sweets' Jarrod Turner hopes to stay longer than current ten day deal
WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Walla Walla Sweets earned their first win of the season last night, a 9-1 win over Corvallis. Richland alum Jarrod Turner helped the cause with a multi-hit night.
He just finished up his freshman year at Walla Walla Community College. Turner played American League ball with the Twin-City Titans last Summer. Turner is one of four catchers on the Sweets' roster. He is on a ten day contract, but hopes his play will earn him a spot for the whole season.
"I'm playing it like I'm playing the whole season 100 percent all the time. I'm pushing everyone I can and hopefully I can get a full contract because that's my goal. Coach Biagi, I was very excited he actually gave me a chance to come out here and play, and it's nice to learn from everyone and learn from him more and just keep going along with it and keep getting better," Turner said.
"Jarrod is a tremendous kid first and foremost. He kind of understands the way I like to go about things. He's just an overall good kid, hard worker and I hope he's successful in these ten days," added coach J.C Biagi.
