KENNEWICK, Wash.—NBC Right Now discovered the Sundowns Training Center in Kennewick was shutting down but turns out it was all a misunderstanding.
Bob Lawrence, the man who runs the facility, says he got a letter Wednesday from the Benton County Commissioners stating his lease on the grounds had been terminated, and he must vacate by June 14th.
Lawrence says Thursday evening he got a call from the county saying it had all been a misunderstanding. Lawrence says he had made a double payment for his insurance coverage and therefore did not make a payment for the following month. He says the county overlooked that detail. The training center will now remain open.
Lawrence opened the facility about two years ago. The center is used for horse training and the weekly barrel races known as Friday Night Lights.
NBC Right Now put in calls to the Benton County Commissioners, but we have not yet received a response.
