Woman honored for helping keep school clean

YAKIMA, Wash.-- A Yakima woman was honored at Ridgeview Elementary School Thursday.
For the past eleven years, Helen Guerin has been volunteering her time on weekends and at night to help keep the school clean.

She says she walks her dog several times a day in the area and on school grounds, and picks up trash while she walks.

She says it's her way of being a good neighbor.

"I feel like it's being a responsible citizen. If they let me walk the grounds and enjoy my dog and walking, surely I can help them," said Guerin.

Ridgeview honored her at their year-end assembly, the principal saying he hopes students grow up to be like her.
