UNION GAP, Wash.-- The City of Union Gap's administrative assistant and interim city clerk resigned last week.
This is the fifth resignation in the city in just six months.
Patti Hoendermis took over for the city clerk after she needed to take medical leave in April.
Hoendermis was doing both her administrative job, as well as several duties in the clerk's office.
Mayor Jim Lemon says it was that heavy workload and other factors that led to her resignation.
"For one, the pay is not very good compared to other cities, bottom line. We haven't given pay raises for a couple years," said Lemon.
Lemon says he thinks it's time the city council fixes that, and is recommending raises for many city positions.
