YAKIMA, Wash. -- Despite the overcast weather Saturday, drivers still came out to get their vehicles washed at the AutoZone parking lot, to help out a five-year-old boy.
East Valley High School student Alisha Howard organized a car wash fundraiser to help Kolbey Zirkle who has autism.
Howard put on the fundraiser as part of her senior project.
She and her friends are raising money to help buy materials to decorate Kolbey's bedroom.
"When he sees his bedroom decorated, I think it's going to be really satisfying because just his face, when he sees his bedroom. Just glad I could help him and his family, like, they're really excited about it," Howard explained.
Raising money for decorations doesn't stop at just washing cars, Howard says she's working on organizing a bake sale to raise money for Kolbey.
So far, they've raised more than $100 from the car wash.
Howard says businesses and those who couldn't make it out for Saturday's event also donated money.
