Woman remains in hospital after being shot in chest and neck
YAKIMA, Wash -- A 27-year-old woman remains in a Yakima hospital after she was shot in the chest and neck last week.
On Friday, Yakima police responded to a call of a gunshot victim on a shuttle bus, in the area of Lincoln and Custer Avenue.
It's not clear yet where the shooting exactly took place, YPD is investigating.
The victim underwent surgery over the weekend.
Detectives have not been able to speak to her about the case yet.
"We have limited information on that case. It's still very sketchy. We have not yet been able to speak to the victim. Hopefully in doing so, will lead to some information, give us direction to go with the investigation," explained Captain Rod Light, with the Yakima Police Department.
Capt. Light said the victim was in what the hospital called "guarded condition" on Monday.
In the meantime, detectives are interviewing neighbors and anyone who might know the victim.
Police are not releasing the victim's name at this time.
