2nd Harvest's new building is being constructed at a rapid pace

PASCO, Wash.- Volunteer construction crews in Pasco are continuing work on a new building for 2nd Harvest.

The food distribution center will be three times the size of the current facility, and be able to hold 7 million pounds of food.

Nearly half the money needed for the project came from donations and volunteers.

They poured concrete less than a month ago and are almost ready to put up the walls.

"It's going to feed a ton of people. I'm from Benton City we have a food bank there. They get their food from 2nd Harvest, and if you've seen the people picking up the food, there's a need for it. We can't get it out there to the people fast enough, says Red Mountain RV Rentals Ken Radar.

Workers say it may be one of the fastest construction projects of its size in the area's history.
