PASCO, Wash. -- Franklin County Human Resource Director Rosie Rumsey officially announced the launch of her campaign for Franklin County Commissioner at Volunteer Park Thursday morning.

Rumsey is running to against incumbent Chair Brad Peck in District 1.

In a statement released about her campaign, Ms. Rumsey stated, "The incumbent's poor performance and negligence with information about theft in the public works department back in 2009 has cost us money & trust. According to the Washington State Attorney General's report over $411,148 was stolen from the County since my opponent first heard about it in 2009. This could have been prevented but the incumbent Commissioner failed to act responsibly. I will not. I'm campaigning in part to ensure that this kind of theft doesn't happen again."

Rumsey has been head of Human Resources for the county for the last seven years. She has 19 years of city government experience, including several years as the finance director and city clerk in Wapato.
