SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- Lower Valley Crisis and Support Services in Sunnyside is looking for volunteers to help lend a hand at their facility.
The nonprofit group works with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
They're hoping to get at least ten more volunteers.
Training is available to anyone 18 and older who's interested.
Last year, the center helped approximately 400 people from Union Gap to Grandview.
"They can sign up for our after-hour crisis line. Or, if they feel comfortable doing so, they can sign up to be a hospital advocate," executive director Leticia Garcia explained.
Garcia says they'll conduct background checks on all applicants. Volunteers will need to pay a $10 binder fee.
Volunteer Core Training is available now through July 11th at the Sunnyside office, at 600 North Avenue.
The two-week training course is from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., during various week days. Anyone interested in volunteering can stop by or call.
