Firework safety reminder

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.- Before you fill up the sky with fireworks next week the consumer product safety commission and firefighters want to warn just how dangerous fireworks can be.

Sales of fireworks in Washington State begin on Thursday June 28th at noon.

Firefighters want people using fireworks to remember the three "B's" of firework safety.

*Be* prepared by having water nearby, *be* safe by only allowing adults to light fireworks, and *be* responsible by cleaning up debris.

Last year there were 476 fireworks-related injuries and-or fires reported to the state fire marshal.

The rules for buying and possessing fireworks are different in every county.

You'll want to check with your county and city and see what laws and restrictions they have on fireworks. Click here.
