Warnings about fireworks with fire danger level high

KENNEWICK, Wash.-  The Benton County Fire Marshal says the fire danger from June 27 to  July 3 is high. 

With fireworks going on sale June 28 at noon across Washington State, firefighters want to remind you to be safe. 

Firefighters say a comment on mixing fireworks and hot weather is in order, especially with the forecasts indicating our area will be ready to burn before  the 4th arrives. 

  • Adult supervision is a must
  • Water in a bucket for dousing spent sparklers, and duds. Wait 20 minutes and then soak the dud.
  • Charged garden hose
  • Do not ever use homemade fireworks of illegal explosives
  • Use common sense. Spectators should keep a safe distance from the shooter and the shooter should wear safety glasses.
  • Alcohol and fireworks do not mix.
