Workshop teaches how to use iPads in classrooms

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash., -- Teachers from Prosser to Walla Walla gathered in Pasco on Friday to learn how to use iPads with their students.  The workshop was taught by Educational Service District 123 for both general and special education teachers.

The teachers became students for the day to learn the iPad's basic functions, how to set up a school email account and how to use the maps feature to teach geography.

"We don't have globes, we don't have maps hanging on the walls anymore; that can be all done with the iPad," says John Kelly, Educational Technology Director for ESD 123.  "It also can be used as clickers which is classroom spot systems; just a ton of equipment that can be replaced by using an iPad."

The class cost $110 for the teachers.

This is the first year the workshop has been held.
