ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- 21 days until the Summer Olympic Games kick off in London, and a Central Washington University professor is packing his bags, getting ready to carry the Olympic torch in England.
Dr. Ethan Bergman was selected by Coca-Cola as one of this year's Olympic torchbearers.
He's the President of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, a registered dietician, and a professor at CWU.
Dr. Bergman was one of 22 carriers chosen by Coca-Cola because of his work in the health care field. He'll be carrying the torch next Wednesday through the town of Basingstoke, outside London.
He says he's really excited to be a part of the Olympic tradition.
"You know, it's one of those things that if I have a bucket list, I wouldn't even put it in the bucket list cause you wouldn't even imagine something like this would come up. It was a real surprise when it did happen," said Dr. Bergman.
Dr. Bergman says he'll carry the torch for about a quarter of a mile through town, before passing it off to another torchbearer.
