Rabies found in WA bats

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Bats in Washington often test positive for rabies, and so far this year, three people had to be treated for exposure to rabid bats. The Department of Health tests bats that have been caught after coming in contact with people. Rabid bats have been found in almost every county in Washington. If you are bitten by a bat, or another animal, clean the wound with soap and water and get medical attention. Never touch a wild bat or any other wild animal.
