Richland Police say 9 homes have been burglarized; but all while the owners have been home and asleep.

The burglaries took place between July 13th and July 16th in the Hills West area of South Richland.

Captain Mike Cobb says the burglar was able to get in through doors that had been left unlocked.

"No body wants to think that they can have somebody in their home, its so uncomfortable and frightening, but the best way to remedy that is to take quick and immediate action when something unusual occurs," said Capt. Cobb.

Captain Cobb adds that if you notice anything unusual, such as your dogs start barking or your motion censor lights go off in the middle of the night, you should give police a call immediately.

Police say the burglar targets purses, credit cards, debit cards, cash and small electronic devices like iPads.

Police aren't sure if one or several people are responsible, but urge anyone with information to give them a call.
