Christmas in July at Columbia Basin College

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. - It's Christmas in July... at least for Columbia Basin College's Summer Theatre Showcase Season.

Earlier in July, the cast and crew opened the Irving Berlin musical, "White Christmas," and you still have a few more chances to see it. The cast is comprised of adults in the community who auditioned, and are doing theatre simply because they love it.

The musical is part of CBC's Showcase Season, supporting the college's mission of cultural enrichment. Ginny Quinley directed the show, Justin Raffa was the musical director, and Marlie Buriak and John Tuttle choreographed the show.

And while a Christmas show maybe an unusual choice for summer, the crew says it's an attention grabber, and a excellent production in itself.

Ron Campbell is an assistant professor of theatre at CBC. He worked as the scenic designer and technical director of the show, and says so far people are seem to like it. Campbell said, "the response has first been usually... Christmas in July? And then they get a smile on their face, and kind of go with it. There's that whole fun spirit so it's kind of nice to bring that into summer."

The show runs July 19th, 20th and 21st (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) at 7:30 PM at Chiawana High School's theatre in Pasco.

Make sure you get your tickets in advance, as they are reserved seating. Tickets are $18 for adults, and $16 for students and seniors.

You can get tickets at Adventures Underground in Richland or the CBC Performing Arts Office, or by calling the box office at (509) 524-5531. You can get them online by clicking here.

The box office at the theatre will also be open 60 minutes before show time.
