3rd Fundraiser for "Find Larry Rigel Award Fund"

Posted: Updated:

Yakima, WASH.--The last time Larry Riegel's family heard from him was Christmas Day of 2009.

On Saturday, they hosted their 3rd annual fundraiser for "The Find Larry Riegel Award Fund."

This year they are having a community yard sale. All proceeds will go to the reward fund for Larry.

Larry's sister, Susan Riegel-Vaughn, said currently there is around $10,000 in the fund. They are hoping that by the end of the weekend, they will be able to add a couple more thousand dollars.

Vaughn said the reward money will be offered to anyone who can help in the recovery of Larry's remains.

"People in the community miss him," said Vaughn. "He was born and raised here, as we all were, and we have a large extended family and we miss him."

More than one-hundred families donated to the yard sale. Vaughn said the community is very supportive and at least 200 to 300 people stopped by Saturday morning.

The last day for the sale will be Sunday  8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1801 South Pleasant Avenue.

There have been no solid leads since Larry's disappearance in December 2009.

The Yakima Police Department calls Larry's disappearance suspicious and are continuing an active investigation.
