GROTON, Conn. - Police at the University of Connecticut have evacuated the school's Avery Point Campus in Groton after a man armed with a gun was reported on campus. An emergency alert was posted on the school's website at about 11:35 p.m. ET tonight, ordering an evacuation until further notice. Police did not say where the alleged gunman was spotted. The university's website says there is no on-campus housing at Avery Point. Students live in privately owned apartment complexes in Groton. The Avery Point Campus overlooks Long Island Sound.
