Huston criminal trial date set

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. -- The Criminal Trial for Former Franklin County Public Works accountant Dennis Huston is now set to start October 17th.

Judge Craig Matheson allowed the extension, calling this case a complex trial due to the extensive reports and evidence that need to be reviewed.

Huston's attorney says he hasn't received several of those reports, including one from the state auditor's office, and an internal investigation document.

The Washington State Attorney General's Office has charged former Franklin County Public Works director for administration and accounting Dennis Huston, with the theft of $1.7 million from Franklin County.

Huston is accused of Theft in the First Degree, Money Laundering and Violation of the Uniformed Controlled Substances Act - Possession of Cocaine. Prosecutors say Huston wrote up false invoices and payment requests for a company that had closed down.
