Local man wins big UFC award

Yakima, WASH.--A local man just took home one of the biggest awards in the UFC.

Bryan Caraway of Yakima says winning fight of the night is like winning the lottery, and it can only help further his dream of becoming a world champion.

Caraway competed last Saturday in the Ultimate Fighting Championship 149 competition in Calgary, Canada.  He has been fighting for nine years.

He said fighting in the UFC is like being in the Olympics or being in the NFL, and to win the fight of the night award was just the icing on the cake.

Caraway said this was only his second fight in the UFC, but he took the award over big name fighters.

"To kind of steal the show from them and have them pick me as fighter of the night was really amazing," said Caraway. "To get in the bosses eyes and the fans eyes, and I couldn't ask for anything more."

Caraway said he won the award because UFC bosses thought his fight was the most interesting and took a lot of mixed martial arts skill.

Caraway said the fight kept the audience on their toes. At one point he was winning, and then losing, but he secured the fight and won with a solid finish.

Fight of the night is one of three big awards in the UFC. The other awards include best submission and best knockout.
