ConAgra Explains Why Free Fries Fryday Event Was Cancelled

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WASH. -- A lot of people look forward to Free Fries Fryday, but this year if you want your deep fried spuds, you'll have to buy them.

ConAgra Lamb Weston advertised on their Facebook page that they will discontinue the event this year -- the event that they've held for the last two years.

Money raised through Free Fries Fryday goes to Second Harvest Food Bank. According to ConAgra Lamb Weston, donating money just made sense than trying to raise it through the event. So what about free fries in the future?

"We'll look at it for next year, but for right now it looks like a large donation is in the future for the event," explains Howard Schaller of ConAgra Lamb Weston.

The company will donate $10,000 to Second Harvest. That's more than the $6,000 Free Fries Fryday raised each year.
