KENNEWICK, Wash.-- The Water Follies is in full swing as thousands come to the Tri-Cities for the annual hydroplane races at Columbia Park in Kennewick.

Hydroplane drivers and fans alike all say the Tri-Cities Water Follies is the place to be this summer.

"Almost every team here, they'd say this is one of the best, if not the best, race site. The water is fast. The people here are great. The race site does a wonderful job setting it up for us. So this is a terrific opportunity for all the racers here," says David Warren, hydroplane driver.

There are hydroplane race enthusiasts and also those who head to the races at Columbia Park for the social scene but at the heart of the festivities is still the races.

Water Follies puts the Tri-Cities on the map, attracting over seventy thousand people and it's a honor for all of those involved. Miss Tri-Cities, Halle Goodwin, says she's so happy to be a part of the festivities that mean so much to our community.

"Having lived here my whole life and being a part of what we do at Water Follies and stuff, it's definitely very humbling," says Goodwin.

Water Follies has it's own meaning for everyone, but there's no doubt it's the Tri-Cities' signature event of the summer.
