KGH Ribbon Ceremony in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- There's more to construction than just concrete and steel for Kennewick General Hospital.

Hospital and project managers gathered with the KGH Chaplain to hold a special ceremony this morning.

They planted the ribbon, which was used in the groundbreaking of the new Southridge Hospital facility, into the building's foundation.

Hospital officials say the ribbon symbolizes their service for the community.

"We're here to support the community, we're here to support patient care, and it's really a blessing and a ceremony to recognize the significance of this hospital to the community," says CEO of KGH Glen Marshall.

Hospital officials say the facility is still about 2 years away from opening for patient care, but progress is moving in the right direction.
